Death of the Ego

The door slammed as he walked away.

(And there she sat in her disgrace)

Another cycle. Another fit.

At the end of the day they were both lit.

The clouds are dancing. She lives alone.

Another temptation has been overthrown.

There is no balance. There is no light.

All that’s left is another fight.

This time it’s ending. He swears he's done.

She pulls the trigger to his gun.

There is no answer to what might have been.

The shame that’s left grinds against her skin.

The smoke clears and her mind is gone.

There is nothing left that can be done.

She looks closely into his eyes,

Tells him to “fuck off” as he dies.

Then looks at her hands and cries.

There is something lost as ego fades away.

Tomorrow, as promised, is a brighter day.

Always grateful,

Alisha xoxo
